Sometimes I watch the moon at night, No matter be she near or far; Up high, or in a leafy tree Caught laughing like a bigger star. ~ W.H. Davies

The Moon / The Willow / The Water
On the 31st October I went for a walk at dusk. I stood at the top of a hill and saw a mist rising up. I walked down and into it. I came by a group of horses meeting 'neath a linden tree, wearing down its epicormic growth and the ground it grew over. Now I stand over cocker beck, on the bridge at the mill. Here are old cracking willows and fog in the air like a veil. I feel myself being held by it, also a thing of the inbetween. I watch the willows and myself becoming shadows in the white exposing light of the moon.
In this first session we will meet the triad of the Moon, the Willow and the Water.
The threads weaving these three symbols together could originate from our understanding of tidal energy. The Willow is the child of both the Moon and the Water. Two mothers. In many places in the world goddesses of the willow are associated with the moon and its tidal forces, or vice versa. The willow, moon, and water are in communication and are all closely associated with dreaming, the underworld, creative flow/energy, liminality and the feminine.
This is a beginning. It is where we step over the first threshold, say yes to the call of winter, and meet our familiar who is to mentor and support us in our wintering.
